아이돌 그룹 워너원 출신 강다니엘의 인스타그램 팔로워 100만명 최단시간 돌파 기록이 세계 신기록으로 공식 인정됐다.

영국 기네스월드레코드가 3일(현지시간) 발표한 것.

기존 프란치스코 교황의 12시간 기록을 강다니엘은 11시간 36분으로 24분 더 줄인 것이다. 기네스월드레코드는 첫 게시물 등록 시점을 기준으로 봤다. 태평양 표준시 기준으로 1일 오후 10시 첫 게시물을 올렸고, 이어 2일 오전 9시 36분 팔로워 100만명을 달성했다는 설명이다.

프란치스코 교황은 지난 2016년 인스타그램 계정 개설 후 12시간만에 팔로워 100만명을 모았다. 이는 앞서 축구 스타 데이비드 베컴 인스타그램 계정의 '24시간만에 100만명' 기록을 절반으로 줄인 신기록이었다.

앞서 매일신문은 국내 언론 최초로 강다니엘의 인스타그램 팔로워 100만명 최단시간 기록 작성을 보도(3일 '워너원 강다니엘, 프란치스코 교황 꺾었다 "인스타그램 최단시간 100만 팔로워 기록"' 기사)한 바 있다. 매일신문에서는 인스타그램 개설 시점을 기준으로 10시간 59분만에 기록을 달성한 것으로 측정했다. 2일 오후 3시 36분 개설 및 다음 날인 3일 오전 2시 35분 팔로워 수 100만명 돌파.

South Korean K-Pop star Kang Daniel breaks pope's Instagram fans record

K-Pop star Kang Daniel has achieved a new record for the Fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram after joining the social media platform on New Year's Day.
Kang quickly gained one million fans, breaking a record previously held by the Pope Francis, who reached 1 million in 12 hours after debuting his verified Vatican Media channel 'franciscus' back in 2016.
The 22-year-old's first post, a selfie with the caption 'HELLO', appeared on 1 January 2019 at 10:00 p.m. PST (Pacific Standard Time) before the channel hit 1 million followers on 2 January at 09:36 a.m. PST, achieving the new record in 11 hours 36 minutes.
The South Korean star came to prominence as part of the group Wanna One, an 11-strong boy band that emerged from South Korean TV talent show Produce 101. The group is now disbanding with farewell concerts scheduled for the end of January.
Produce 101 is a talent/survival that features contestants from South Korea, as well as Japanese and Chinese performers.
So far, Kang has used his prominence on Instagram to share several selfies as well as a video of his pet cat.
Prior to Pope Francis, the record was officially held by footballer David Beckham who signed up in May 2015 and gained one million fans in 24 hours.
