-'요점만 말하다'라는 뜻이다. chase는 추구의 대상. 즉, '거두절미하고 추구하는 대상으로 바로 접근하자'라는 의미다. get to the point와 같은 표현이다.
M: Julie, can I talk to you for a minute?
W: I'm swamped with things at the moment.
M: It won't take long. Can't you spare just a little time for your own brother?
W: All right. Cut to the chase and tell me what you want.
M: 줄리, 잠깐만 이야기해도 될까?
W: 지금 다른 일로 정신이 없는데.
M: 오래 걸리진 않을 거야. 네 오빠를 위해 잠깐만 시간을 내줄 수 없다는 거니?
W: 알겠어. 거두절미하고 원하는 것을 이야기해줘.
