The IAAF World Championships in Athletics-Daegu 2011 logo was unveiled. The 2011 Daegu World Championships Organization Committee unveiled the logo at 11 a.m. on July 27 at Novotel Hotel. Organization committee members, members of the local government, and sports and media figures were in attendance at the presentation.

According to the organization committee, the designers used the IAAF logo as the basis for the new logo and then added the colors used in the "Colorful Daegu" slogan. The logo was designed to capture the spirit of the championship and the slogan of 'Energetic Daegu Jumping for the World'. It celebrates life, youth, energy, and passion, along with hope for the future and a bigger dream of bringing the world together. The logo will be widely used in promotional material, signboards, sculptures, and decorations for the championships.

Designer Choi Bok-ho performed a fashion show. Other events included special multimedia presentations and performances. Ceremony attendees were given special pins that included the new logo. The ceremony was open to the public on the big screen in Gukchae-bosang Memorial Park in the afternoon, and flags adorned with the logo were raised at city hall and Daegu Stadium. A large banner will be put up in city hall and the committee building.

2011 대구세계육상선수권대회 엠블럼이 확정, 발표됐다. 대회 조직위원회는 27일 오전 11시 호텔 노보텔에서 대회 조직위원, 기관단체장, 정·관계 및 체육계 인사, 언론 미디어 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 엠블럼 선포식을 하고 대회 엠블럼을 공개했다.

조직위원회에 따르면 엠블럼은 국제육상경기연맹(IAAF)의 규정에 따라 IAAF 로고를 기본으로 하고, 대구의 도시 브랜드 슬로건인 '컬러풀 대구'의 기본색상을 활용했다.

엠블럼은 생명과 젊음의 축제로 활기와 열정, 미래를 향한 인류의 끊임 없는 도전과 희망, 세계인이 하나가 되어 더 높은 꿈을 실현하고자 하는 대회의 비전을 담아 '세계로 도약하는 에너제틱 (Energetic) 대구'를 주제로 도안됐다. 또 대구로 모여드는 전 세계 선수들과 친환경 솔라시티 대구, 육상 경기 등 주요한 모티프를 반영했다고 조직위는 밝혔다. 엠블럼은 앞으로 대회 홍보물과 입간판, 현판, 대회 관련 조형물, 각종 대회 관련 환경장식 등에 광범위하게 활용된다.

이날 선포식에는 디자이너 최복호씨가 엠블럼을 주제로 패션쇼와 축하 공연을 펼쳤고, 엠블럼 배지 달아주기 행사도 가졌다. 오후부터 국채보상운동기념공원 전광판을 통해 일반 시민들에게도 공개됐으며 시청과 대구스타디움 등 대회 관련 시설에는 엠블럼기를 게양했고, 시청과 대회조직위 건물에는 대형 엠블럼 현수막도 게시될 방침이다.
